Just thought someone in here might also be interested. Looking for an incredible guitar multiFX? This can do it all. From real tube analog distortion to some of the. Feb 21, 2015 Digitech GSP 2101 Studio Tube-Limited Edition - Test Shecter Diamont Series Hellraizer Special-Digitech GSP 2101(s.3.00.00-Artist upgrade)Limited Edition.

I just won an auction for a digitech GSP 2101 preamp/processor. A band I was in many years ago used to play a lot of shows with another band who's guitarist used one of these these and I always liked his tone back then.

I have really been digging my modded ADA MP-1 that I modded for a more JCM-800 type gain. Now I have been looking at getting more of those older preamps. I would also love to find a rockmaster preamp. Anybody rock a GSP 2101 back in the day? Any tips or tricks? I will be running it into a tube power amp.

Was my main rig for many years - got the best results when I ran it into a Mesa 20/20, into a pair of Crate closed back 1x12s loaded w/ V30s. Replacing the stock Penta 12ax7s improved the tone. I got great mileage out of my ART X-15 Ultrafoot controller, especially for morphing from clean to gain or rhythm to lead - set up the CC messages right & you can control like a dozen different parameters in real time! I'm about to sell that Ultrafoot - lemme know if you're interested. But either way, I still think the 2101 is a great piece of kit. Had the most natural tone of any of Digitech's tube preamp/processors, imo.

Mannydingo member since: messages: 1761 Subject: Re: spreading the digitech love. I only owned the very first of the GSP2101's with the black face. Isn't that kind of overkill, though?

PassionandWarfare member since: messages: 14 Subject: Re: spreading the digitech love. Yeah Manny, it is a little over kill, but I have a feeling that the 1101 may mysteriously turn into brand new ibanez some day in the distant future;) s7eve member since: messages: 187 Subject: Re: spreading the digitech love. It seems everytime someone makes a 2101 vs 1101 statement the result is different. I should pick up a 2101 one day and see for myself. What Ibanez are you planning on picking up?

PassionandWarfare member since: messages: 14 Subject: Re: spreading the digitech love. Yeah, the 2101 has always 'felt like home' for me.

There have been times that I wished digitech would re-issue the 2101 with maybe a USB port, and a few other tweaked additions. As for the ibanez. I've had my eye one the Rg1570 prestige in mirage blue. There's something about that guitar that I love and the neck feels amazing. Although, I thought about getting the ibanez RG350MYE, cheap and low end but it also plays and looks amazing. S7eve member since: messages: 187 Subject: Re: spreading the digitech love. I think I found out about the 1101 while researching the 2101, I have a feeling I would like the 2101.

I have a few Ibanez guitars, including an RG2027 which is one of my favourite guitars, I'm still searching for the right pups for it though. PassionandWarfare member since: messages: 14 Subject: Re: spreading the digitech love. The Rg2027 is one amazing guitar for sure. I have a 92' Carvin Dc127 and I put the evolution II pickup in the bridge, hoping to get a little more gain than the stock carvin pu had, now I kinda wished I would have just put in a super distortion. I love those damned pickups. But.at one time s7eve, I was looking at the Rg2027, so.

I must say, you have a great guitar! S7eve member since: messages: 187 Subject: Re: spreading the digitech love. It is a great guitar, my problem at the moment is a have a lot of great guitars but not the perfect guitar for me LOL, I know what that guitar is but no one makes it so I am going to have to go custom. ATM I am waiting for some new pups for my Ochoteco which is by far my best guitar and I'll decide where I go from there.

My favourite guitar is my cheapest 7, my Dean AS7 but there are a few things I really do not like about it, my dream guitar is that guitar with a superstrat body for comfort and no TOM. PassionandWarfare member since: messages: 14 Subject: Re: spreading the digitech love. I love the look of that Ochoteco, is that flamed koa or walnut? The fretboard looks like it is ebony. What does that guitar run for? S7eve member since: messages: 187 Subject: Re: spreading the digitech love. The body is birdseye Maple, Mahogany and a flamed Tasmanian Blackwood top.

Digitech

The neck is flamed Maple with a similar to Ibanez profile and it has a Bois-de-Rose fretboard. I bought it second hand and got it for much less than what it would cost if you ordered another from Ochoteco. If you were going to get something like this built today my guess is it would cost somewhere in the $3500-$6000 range but good luck finding a Bois-de-Rose fretboard or finding someone to work with one. Glenn Fin member since: messages: 135 Subject: Re: spreading the digitech love. I've always wondered about that 'Valve FX' How do you like it? Thegreenblade member since: messages: 34 Subject: Re: spreading the digitech love. 'I wished digitech would re-issue the 2101 with maybe a USB port, and a few other tweaked additions.'

I've been wanting that since I got my 2101 - although serial port at the time. I love my 1101, but I also love my 2101. I tried to retire the 2101 but made the mistake of playing it again. It's now alongside the 1101 in my rack/pedalboard. The reverb on that kills.

Graphic EQ - don't care for PEQs. The compressor is better and the effects are sweet. I have yet to install the update for better pitch shifting, but I found the pitch shifting on the 1101 to be lacking, since I installed the betas.

There's the one patch that emulates a bass (Guitar Bass I think it's called). I thought it sounded sweet when I got the 1101 - no lag. Now, it sounds a lot like the 2101, where the pitch shifting lag is noticeable. I liked the idea of having a 'bass sound' with the 2101 but couldn't get past the lag. Something for the beta forums. If Digitech came out with a 2101 reissue they'd have to throw in some of the 1101 in there. I love the 2101 Clean and Saturated tube sounds, but I couldn't be without the 1101's emulations.

Being able to dial in amps and cabs is great, especially when they sound this good. I would take the 2101's compressor, Clean and Sat tubes, GEQ, noise gate, effects, and the 1101's stompbox sims, amp and cab sims, noise gate (a mix of the two), noise gate positioning, spillover, c48's delay/reverb input mute option, effects sims, output filtering (match mixer or amp type), USB programmability, and Control 2 (and everything it brings). Oh, and put an input on the front AND back like the 2101 (anyone else have to run a cable from the back of a rack to the front just for this?), but a headphone jack on the front like the 1101. That would be quite the beast!

2 grand you say? I'm not made of money and 2 grand is out of my price range. Until I sell my current gear and a guitar or two, which I would do for that kind of functionality. There's already an RP1000, we don't need an RP1101, we want a GSP3202:) - trademarked, please call my lawyer.

PassionandWarfare member since: messages: 14 Subject: Re: spreading the digitech love. Thegreenblade, a Gsp3202 would be a sweet concept indeed, and i love some of your ideas!

I'll tell you what, I would easily spend 2 grand on a re-issue or a hot rodded version of the GSP2101 than spend the money on a axe-fx thats for sure. I kinda feel bad that all this talk about the gsp2101 is in this section, but no one ever posts over at the 'legacy' section where the 2101 pages are. I think digitech should just delete that whole section. A lot of people have posted over there and no one reponds. Glenn Fin, as for your question about the valve fx, I recently aquired it from a guy in the Netherlands for $175.00 with the control one.

I think it is an awesome unit, although some of the patchs do tend to sound a little digital to my ears. It has a single 12AX7 tube for the gain, and does lack the gain that the GSP2101 has (2 - 12AX7's) When I recieved the unit, I was completely shocked to see that it was in pristine condition, never racked and if I didn't know better I would swear it just came out of the box. Other than the indiglo blue display that is combersome to read, it is my second favorite unit.

The valve fx also comes factory set up so that ever patch can automatically have it's individual effects turned on and off via the control one, which is something that can't be done on the gsp2101 unless you program it that way. Even though I have owned the 2101 for years, I have never owned the control one until now, and can't make heads or tails on how to program the 2101 w/ control one to work like the valve fx.
