I Have a similar problem with other race software, tuning programs and such. So I caved in and have a new lap top coming. I will be purchasing a Pipemax CD sometime within the coming week. Thank's once again everyone. Induction Apprentice.
What I do, I have a laptop computer with Windows XP that is completely virginal. It has NEVER been connected to the internet in it's entire life. I download programs (such as Pipemax) on my everyday workhorse Linux machine, that has run for years on the internet and never had a single problem.

I burn a CD, and then run that CD on my Laptop so it can run Pipemax under genuine Windows XP. A bit messy, but it always works great, is totally reliable, and is completely hazard free. My problems all disappeared when I stopped using Windows and Internet Explorer on the internet. Another thing I do is have a second hard drive with Linux and Firefox installed that I use exclusively for financial transactions over the internet, and nothing else.
